Entry Assessment (CogAT®): All applicants take the Cognitive Abilities Test™ (CogAT) in late fall/early winter.
Always confirm with the RCSD website for dates and registration details.
Current RCSD 2nd graders automatically take the test during the school day at their current school. The next testing date is the week of Nov 30, 2026.
Non-RCSD 2nd graders and all 3rd–7th graders: You need to register in advance during a designated late-November window to take the assessment at North Star in early December.
The testing registration window is Nov 2nd - 15th, 2026.
Testing occurs on Dec 2 or 5, 2026
There is no need to prepare or tutor your child for this test!
